This product includes a Bridge X – the so-called "Thread border router" that connects your smart home network to the internet and the tado° cloud. Find out whether you need it. Learn more

  • You won't need an additional Bridge X if:

    • You already have a tado° Bridge X
    • You already have a Thread border router by another brand
    • You already have a tado° Heat Pump Optimizer

  • You will need an additional Bridge X if:

    • You don’t yet have a Thread border router in your home
    • You have a larger home in which the Bridge X will serve as a signal amplifier

What’s in the box?

Power supply

The Smart Radiator Thermostat X contains a rechargeable lithium-ion battery (5V, 0.5A). Bridge X: operating voltage 230 V, energy consumption 0.7 W.

Internet connection

The Smart Radiator Thermostat X connects to the Internet via the tado° Bridge X. You can plug the Bridge X into any socket and it connects to the Wi-Fi router.

To install tado°, you need at least iOS 16.4 or Android 9.0.

Smart Radiator Thermostat X: PC, ABS, PMMA, nickel-plated brass (metal nut). Bridge X: PC.

User interface

Smart Radiator Thermostat X: LCD display with touch control, mechanical control knob. Bridge X: 4 x LED.

Control

Control via the app or manually operate using the control knob. You can deactivate the manual operation in the app with the Child Lock feature.

Is tado° compatible with my heating system?

You can find out whether the tado° Smart Radiator Thermostat X - Starter Kit is compatible with your radiators in just a few seconds using our compatibility checker. In general, tado° is compatible with almost all manufacturers. Each pack contains six adapters for a variety of valve types.

Can I install tado° on my own?

You can install it yourself in just a few minutes. The app guides you step by step, and is customised to your radiator model. No risk of water leaks. And even if you're offline, you can still install tado°.

Installing the Bridge X is as easy as plugging it into the socket.

I'm buying tado° for the first time. Do I need a Bridge X?

If you already have a Thread border router in your home, you won’t need a Bridge X. Otherwise, you can either order a separate one here, or buy it as part of a Starter Kit with your Smart Radiator Thermostat X. Please note that the Internet Bridge from the V3+ series is not compatible with tado° X.

Here you can find a list of Thread Border Routers that work in place of the tado° Bridge X.

I already have tado° V3+ with an Internet Bridge. Is this compatible with tado° X?

If you already have tado° V3+ devices in your home, simply expand them as before with the V3+ Add-ons. The Bridge X and all tado° X products are not compatible with tado° V3+.

Can I control tado° using my smart assistant?

You can control all tado° devices easily using Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Home.

Can I install tado° in my bathroom?

Yes, tado° X is suitable for installation in wet areas.

Can I return tado°?

Yes, you have a 14-day right of return following your purchase. In addition, we offer our Money-Back Guarantee, which allows you to return tado° X within the first year if you’re unhappy with the results.

Will I have to replace the batteries?

The Smart Radiator Thermostat X is equipped with a rechargeable battery. This means you don't need to replace any batteries. Simply remove the rechargeable battery and charge it with a USB-C cable. This only takes about 2 hours and only needs to be done about once a year.

You plug the Bridge X into a socket, which means it doesn’t need batteries.

What happens if I’m offline?

You can still install tado° if you’re offline. What’s more, Smart Schedules will continue to run even when you’re not connected to the internet because they are saved locally on the device.

Matter ensures a simplified connection between tado° and your smart home, regardless of which products or brands you’re using. Matter-enabled devices will work together reliably and securely now and moving forward into the future.

What's Thread?

Thread technology was developed to make networking smart home devices easier: Thread-enabled devices form their own, robust network so that they communicate with each other. The entire network only requires one Thread border router, regardless of the devices you have and the manufacturers they’re from.

Works great.

Easy step by step instructions to install. I did had to cut the adapters to make them fit om my radiators which are old and I took me some time to figure out which adaptor to use on another radiator. I had one new radiator where I could mount without using an adapter. In the end, everything worked out fine. Callibration of the temperature needs some time and testing but once setup corrcetly, it works great. Solid 4 stars, missed the 5th one because of the adaptor rings that I had to customize to make them fit.

Tado X Thermostat and Bridge

I have used the X Series Products since February now (I was Part of the Early Access programm) and i had no issues whatsoever. Setting it up took me maybe a minute as it pretty much does it all itself. Same with the Bridge.

I also really like that it uses USB C to charge its internal battery. No more having to buy batteries all the time.
I am overall extremely happy with it as I had no issues with it at all (unlike the company i had a smart thermostat from before switching to tado)
I can overall only recommend it. And I hope you guys can enjoy it aswell!
