Will I have to replace the batteries?

No. The 2nd gen has a built-in rechargeable battery. Charge it before the heating season with a USB-C cable, and you're all set.

Is the 2nd gen compatible with my existing tado° X devices?

Yes. The 2nd gen works with all tado° X products, including 1st gen. It's not compatible with tado° V3+ or older devices.

What does the top button do?

Press once to wake up the screen. Press again for a shortcut of your choice: resume your schedule, boost your heating, or check the room's humidity.

What's the difference between the Wired and Wireless Smart Thermostat?

The Wired Smart Thermostat X (2nd gen) connects directly to your boiler wiring, replacing your existing wired thermostat on the same wires. The Wireless Smart Thermostat X (2nd gen) pairs with a Wireless Receiver installed at the boiler, so you can position it anywhere in a room without any wiring.
