  • You decide how fast to charge

    Generally, your car and the charger sort out the right charging power automatically. Want to slow things down? Turn the charging current down in the app or with the push button on the device. This is helpful when you want to charge on solar power alone.

  • Protected against unauthorised charging

    Turn on access control, and charging starts only with an RFID chip or via the app. The charging cable locks as soon as the charging process starts. Even parked at the kerb, your charger is secured.

  • Built-in residual current protection

    The DC protection module with DC detection and additional AC detection is already inside. The charger also runs a phase and voltage check and an earthing test. A separate residual current circuit breaker, at least type A, must be installed upstream.

It's smart to charge at home

At home you pay your own electricity price, not whatever a charge point operator decides to charge you. Add a dynamic tariff and you're automatically charging during the cheapest hours of the day on its own. The app keeps the overview for you: how much, and at what price.

Flexible wherever you go

Holiday homes, friends' houses, campsites. Charge points are often rare in all of them. But sockets aren't! Keep the charger and an adapter in the boot, and you can charge wherever there's a suitable socket.

Around midday your PV system makes more electricity than the house can use. Connect the charger to a compatible energy management system, and your car takes that PV surplus. Enjoy a full battery, coming straight from your own roof.

Do I need an electrician to install it?

Not to get going. Fit the wall bracket, hang the charger, plug it into a suitable socket. The only job for an electrician is putting in a CEE red 16 A socket at your parking space, if there isn't one already.

Which charging cable do I need?

The charger has a Type 2 socket, so bring your own type 2 cable. Vehicles with type 1 can be charged with an adapter cable type 2 to type 1, available as an accessory. Either way, every EV and plug-in hybrid approved in Europe will charge.

Can I charge from a normal household socket?

Yes, with the safety plug 16 A adapter, though you're capped at 2.3 kW. Fast charging needs a CEE socket.

How fast will my car charge?

That depends on your car and your connection, which the charger works out with the vehicle automatically. If you'd rather charge slowly, turn the charging current down in the app or with the push button.

What if I move home?

You can simply take the wallbox with you. It’s mounted on a wall bracket and can be removed without leaving any marks. At your new parking space, you’ll just need a suitable socket again.

What do I get from the tado° app?

The app tracks market electricity prices as they change hour by hour, and starts charging when they're at their lowest. Your consumption shows up there too. You'll need a dynamic tariff for this, like tado° HOURLY.
