Switching to the new tado° X is that easy

  • 1. Create a new Home

FAQ - everything you need to know about the switch

Do my existing tado° Smart Thermostats work with tado° X?

tado° X is not compatible with previous tado° product lines including tado° V3+. Previous tado° Smart Thermostats cannot be controlled together with tado° X in the same home.

What happens to my tado° account?

You keep your existing tado° account. Just create a new Home in the app. Once you've replaced all your V3+ devices, you can delete your V3+ Home.

I subscribe to Auto-Assist. Will I lose my subscription?

No, your subscription continues. You just need to reactivate it once. In the app, open the Settings of your new tado° Home, tap “AI Assist”, then “Restore purchase”.

Is my heating system compatible with tado° X?

The Smart Thermostats X work with most boilers and almost all radiators. The prerequisite is that they use Relay or OpenTherm connections (this includes the vast majority). The Heat Pump Optimiser X tado° is compatible with many manufacturers and models of heat pumps.

Where can I get help?

Our support team will be happy to help you with any questions you may have. You can also find further information here in our help center article.

What is Matter?

Matter ensures a simplified connection between tado° and your smart home, regardless of which products or brands you’re using. Matter-enabled devices will work together reliably and securely now and moving forward into the future.

What is Thread?

Thread technology was developed to make networking smart home devices easier: Thread-enabled devices form their own, robust network so that they communicate with each other. The entire network only requires one Thread border router, regardless of the devices you have and the manufacturers they’re from.
